MSc Org Psych, BSc (Hons) Psych
Brain Training Australia I Clinical Director
Born and reared in Ireland, Elaine moved to Australia in 2011 in her early 30’s. Elaine holds a Masters of Science in Organisational Psychology, a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management. She is also a qualified Psychometrician and Certified Neurofeedback Practitioner.
With 19 years of professional experience in health services and working directly with complex behavioural and mental health issues, Elaine has worked with thousands of individuals including families, organisations and communities across the globe to achieve transformational results.
Elaine’s background in Psychology and as Certified Neurofeedback Practitioner results in an enthusiasm which understands the import role which psychology, neuroscience and neuropsychology plays in understanding brain behaviour and how that translates to your quality of life.
She builds effective partnerships and strategic alliances with other Health and Wellness Practitioners to implement best practice and innovative mental health practices. She is a writer and a blogger, passionate about meaningful content creation in Neuroscience, Psychology and Neuropsychology. She enjoys working with Mental Health Practitioners who are looking to grow their businesses but struggle to develop factual and thought provoking meaningful content in the field of Neuroscience and brain based behaviours. She has contributed significantly to the field of Psychological Research, particularly on those struggling with Epilepsy.
In 2005, Elaine was involved in a snowboarding accident, leaving her with a fractured skull and tonic-clonic grand mal seizures. Her seizures were so severe that she has knocked out teeth, broke her nose three times, wrist, fingers and eye socket. At the age of 24 she was told she would never be able to work again, was put on invalidity pension and was told she would not be able to have children due to the high doses of medication that was required to stabilise her seizures. Using her own personal interest in Psychology she began to delve deeper into understanding Brain Behaviour through Neuroscience and Neuropsychology. She was fascinated by the process of neuroplasticity which is the ability of the brain to change itself. So while neuroplasticity was the process of change, the technology used to do that is called Neurofeedback Brain Training. She found Neurofeedback to be a successful means to stabilise her seizures, enabling her to come off her mediation completely and to fulfil her dream of being a mother. So Elaine is very passionate about Brain Training, as it literally is life changing. Its brain changing.
Elaine set up her own practice in 2016, bringing Neurofeedback Brain Training technology to Perth, Western Australia, a method that most people are not even familiar with. Its a very specific field of interest, so Elaine spends most of her time engaging large audiences to create education and awareness of what Neurofeedback is, how it can help and educating on Brain Behaviour. She is a Motivational Speaker, Blogger and Writer and shares her story openly to inspire others. She has worked professionally with both linear and non-linear Neurofeedback modalities and prefers to work with non-linear Dynamical Neurofeedback as it does not force the brain in any particular direction, it doesn’t stimulate the brain and therefore eliminates the potential for unwanted negative side effects. It is effortless, advanced and works with your brains natural potential.
She enjoys delivering the Brain Training Australia webinar series creating education and awareness around the brain, its functionality and how it relates to human behaviour and psychological processes. Her team of Certified Brain Practitioners facilitate the sessions at the practice.
